News: But the Eidos name will live on through Eidos Montreal.
Eidos Interactive was purchased by Square-Enix back in April and now, GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that the Eidos Interactive is being phased out. The company, headquartered in England, will have its European operations renamed Square Enix Europe. This new entity will publish all Square-Enix and Eidos games in Europe.
As far as the American arm of the company goes, as Square-Enix already has a publishing presence in the US, all of Eidos Interactive's future releases will be published under the Square-Enix name.
The Eidos name will live in through three of the company's internal development studios: Eidos Montreal (makers of Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4), Eidos Hungary (makers of the Battlestations series) and Eidos Shanghai.
We'll have more soon.
