News: Warner Bros. and 5TH Cell reach a milestone on Nintendo DS.
Warner Bros. and 5TH Cell reached the one-million sold milestone with Scribblenauts, and they didn't even have to include Mario, Pokemon or Zelda.
This feat is significant because, first, Nintendo-published titles dominate 14 of the 15 best-selling games for the DS handheld. Scribblenauts, which debuted on Sept 15, 2009, has broken Warner Bros. back into the top 100. The company's only other top-selling DS title is
Lego Batman: The Videogame.
Second, this DS-exclusive is an ultra-creative, puzzle-platformer hybrid that lacks a prominent mascot or a licensed tie-in. It's not your typical one-million seller from a third-party company.
While there's no word on a possible Scribblenauts 2, there's enough charm and words in the dictionary to warrant a sequel.
