First Impressions: To win, you must fight; to live you must win!

Capcom has blessed our Dreamcast with many great titles over the past couple years. Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Marvel vs. Capcom are just a few of the franchises to appear on the system. And they look to be bringing another great hit to the Dreamcast in August, which will sadly be one of their last titles for the console.

Heavy Metal: Geomatrix (HMG) will be based in a future gone wrong where microscopic robots can recreate human cell compositions using the Nanobot Technology. Because of this, the world has become a Уcyber worldФ where fantasy and reality have been combined and humans have turned their back on the real world. There's even more bad newsЕ most of the world's natural resources are gone, and the polar caps are melting, flooding the planet. Now you must fight against the Nanobots in order to regain your world.

So pretty much, the world is messed up place. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, at least not from the videogame player's perspective. The reason is that usually when a videogame world is in chaos there is a lot intense action to go a long with it. And that's just what this game is all about. Expect a massive amount of different weapons to be at your disposal, and some amazing enemies to combat with. Artist Simon Bisley designed the characters for the game, so you know they are going to be incredible.

In the actual game you play as a Nano-Gladiator, taking on your enemies in huge, creative levels. You will have twelve different Nano-Gladiators at your disposal, each able to utilize special radar that helps in keeping track of their enemies on screen. I expect nothing short of spectacular graphics in the visual department. From what I've already seen, the game will be very colorful and fast moving. Hopefully, Capcom will keep a consistent frame-rate and the pop-up level at a minimum.

The sound department should be extremely strong as well, with brand spanking' new music provided by Megadeth, Halford, Corrosion of Conformity, WASP, Entomed, and Dust to Dust. Action packed music for an action packed game.

The more I write about Heavy Metal the more I get excited about it. As you've read already, the game will feature some impressive single player action with tons of weapons and enemies, but what if those enemies were really alive? If you bring some buddies over to play then they can be! HMG will feature a four-player split screen mode where you can rumble with your friends in a multiplayer frag-fest. Unfortunately, no online play will be included.

Final Thoughts
With Heavy Metal: Geomatrix, Capcom is looking to finish off their Dreamcast reign with a bang. It's going to have everything an action title should have: the music, the weapons, the enemies, the gameplay, and of course the graphics.
