News: Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers have to wait an extra month to Hail to the King. Gearbox Software pokes fun at the game's delay in a new video.

Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers have to wait an extra month to "Hail to the King," as developer Gearbox Software has continued in the long tradition of delaying Duke Nukem Forever. The new release date for this 13-years-in-the-making title is now June 14 in North America and June 10 internationally.

Originally, the game was scheduled for May 3 in the United States and May 6 worldwide. The situation is reversed now; overseas gamers will be receiving Duke a few days before everyone stateside.

This begs the question: was Duke Nukem Forever just delayed a month and a week, making it the shortest delay in the game's long history? Or was it delayed 13 years plus a month and seven days from its original release date, making it the longest delay in history?

2K Games and the aforementioned developer tried to put a positive spin on the whole situation with the following statement and playful video:

"In case you haven't heard, Duke never comes early," said Christoph
Hartmann, president of 2K. "We're committed to deliver a laugh-out-loud,
politically incorrect experience that people will talk about for years
to come. We thank Duke's fans for their continued patience - I promise
this won't take another 15 years."

This Mature-rated game, once considered vaporware, is now being touted by its makers as a summer blockbuster and post-E3 release. We'll let you know if Duke is able to live up to the hype when (or if) it does come out on June 14 here. In the meantime, check out our ever-aging Duke Nukem Forever guide for the game's nearly complete legacy.
