PC, Xbox 360, PS3 News: Deus Ex: Human Revolution has gone gold, which is a good thing because Matt is off to Canada to review the game before its August 23 release date.
I'll be flying to Canada in two weeks just to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution at the Eidos Montreal studio where the game was developed. So, I was pleased to hear that this RPG prequel to the first Deus Ex game went gold today, meaning the final code has been written and it's off to the factory for its August 23 release date on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
"We couldn't be more excited that Deus Ex: Human Revolution has gone gold and will soon be in the hands of expectant gamers," said Stephane D'Astous, general manager of Eidos-Montreal. "As the first release for Eidos-Montreal, it's impossible to express how extremely proud we are of the final product and all of the hard work that went into its creation."
Since this is the first game out of Eidos Montreal, it's hard to know what to expect from the final product. However, I demoed the game four times in the past (twice at E3s, once in Montreal and, most recently, a final time in Irvine, CA) and have always admired the deep narrative and profound sense of choice. Given the summer video game drought, this third entry in the Deus Ex series will be the triple-A title to end that ongoing spell and the game's sales should back up its potential with no immediate competitors.
Check back for a full review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution when we visit Sarif Industries Eidos Montreal in two weeks. In the meantime, here's my YouTube video interview from my first visit to Eidos Montreal:
