The good news is that Valve is hosting a live team-based Dota 2 tournament right now with prize money totalling $1.6 million. The bad news is that it's happening in Cologne, Germany at GamesCom 201 far, far away from most of our US-based readers.
However, even if you can't attend the five-day trade show in Уthe FatherlandФ in person, publisher Valve is inviting you to watch the Dota 2's Gamecom trailer - an offer that doesn't require traveling 5,000-plus miles. The two-minute video doesn't feature gameplay footage of this Action RTS, but its heavy on colorful cinematics, with the likable merchant-narrator asking Уwhat a hero truly needs?Ф The choices, naturally, are speed, strength and wisdom, and of them are acted out with various character factions, as will be the case in Dota 2 when it releases in 2012.
Enjoy the video below and don't forget to tune into the the in-progress Dota 2 tournament, streaming live from the land of fine chocolate.
