Valve entered Gamescom 2011 ready to publicly show off Dota 2 for the first time. While
Dota 2's first trailer and million-dollar live tournament has been a success, the company is exiting the German video game expo having delayed the fantasy strategy game until 2012.
There are two pieces of good news for Action RTS fans who are looking forward of this stand-alone sequel to
Defense of the Ancients, a popular World of Warcraft III custom map game. First, the newly delayed Dota 2 is now Уexpected to be available in
early 2012.Ф While УexpectedФ isn't exactly the most concrete language in the world, we're glad that it's early 2012 instead of mid- or late-2012.
Second, a public beta is scheduled for fall of 2011. Although a more specific announcement regarding Dota 2's public beta release date, Valve did invite fans to
sign up for the Dota beta. Of course, signing up for the beta requires having a Steam account.
