CoD Elite Beta News: Beta testing for CoD Elite, once limited to Xbox 360, opens up to the PS3. Find out how to secure an invite.
Call of Duty Elite lands on PS3 today in beta form after Xbox 360 owners enjoyed a two-month exclusive beta for the upcoming freemium service. CoD Elite is touted as Уthe next levelФ for CoD multiplayer, allowing users to connect, compete and improve, as the slogan goes. This includes sophisticated stat tracking, custom player groups, contests and enhanced video sharing.
So far, this Beachhead Studios-developed service for PS3 works with Call of Duty: Black Ops and it features the same perks that Xbox 360 gamers have been experiencing since July 14. Elite on both consoles and the PC will expand to CoD MW3 when the November 8 release date hits. That's when Activision will start with the $50 a year premium content. However, keep in mind that it includes all of the DLC for MW3, which would cost more than $50 if you were to buy them individually (at least is Black Ops' $15 per map pack prices were to continue).
Activision is rolling out invitations to the PS3 beta starting today, so if you haven't already signed up for the beta, you can
register at the CoD Elite beta site. In addition to the CoD: Elite beta on PS3, this week marks the launch of the final Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC map pack on the Sony system. Be sure to enter our
CoD Rezurrection contest for a free code to enjoy the $15 map pack that launches on Thursday. There's also a planned double XP weekend to coincide with the launch of the DLC.
