Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 News: The latest trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 knows where the money's at: multiplayer. Check it out for a preview of the new modes.

With exactly one week until the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's release date of November 8, Activision has unveiled a new trailer for its FPS juggernaut. The trailer is all about multiplayer; the game's designers talk maps, modes, and why they think MW3 has the best multiplayer of the series. Gaming Target will put that to the test when our review goes live at midnight next Tuesday. In the meantime, check out the trailer, it's chocked full of gameplay and developer insights:

First, there's the brand new mode Kill Confirmed, where players must grab the dog tags of their targets in order to score points. Kills still get you experience, but your team doesn't score a point unless you grab the tags. Enemies can also deny you the point by grabbing their fallen teammates tags.

Next is Team Defender, where two teams fight for possession of a score-increasing flag. This is not your grandpa's capture the flag mode; you're not trying to bring the flag anywhere, you just want to hold on to it. Whichever team holds the flag gets double points for their kills. Obviously, whichever team has it is going to reach the score limit first. Be warned, the flag carrier is marked on the enemy's map, so it's up to his teammates to protect him from the enemy onslaught, hence the name Team Defender.

Then there's custom matches, which are a whole a can of worms on their own. Players can create matches where they control every last setting. Choose the weapons, equipment, and maps you want to play, you can even turn off perks and kill streak rewards. The modes you design can then be shared through Elite. If your design is popular enough, it'll go viral.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's release date is November 8, one week from today. It's been a great month for games, and therefore a tough 30 days for people's wallets. If you have any cash left in your gaming budget, MW3's new multiplayer modes and custom matches have it looking like a solid investment. Gaming Target will let you know just how solid, come next Tuesday, midnight Pacific time.
