News: Expect to see Alan Wake at the VGAs, but the first screenshot of the Xbox Live Arcade game on Monday.

Alan Wake 2 or Alan Wake sequel to be announced with a screenshot on Monday

We've been waiting to hear about an Alan Wake 2 or Alan Wake sequel for a year and a half now. However, as you know, developer Remedy Entertainment likes to take its time with its thriller writing character and his real-world video game mysteries... a long time. It took the Finland-based company more than five years and several delays to deliver the first Alan Wake for Xbox 360 in 2010.

The good news a tiny bit of light will be shined (say, a flashlight's-worth of light) on this new Alan Wake game on Monday. That's when Game Informer teases one of the big Video Game Award trailer announcements: ?the next Alan Wake title.? Yes, it'll be a tease for a teaser trailer. The magazine website was quick to clarify that this isn't Alan Wake 2, but an XBLA game.

Previously, Remedy Entertainment had stressed than the next game in the Alan Wake series wouldn't be Alan Wake 2 and that it wouldn't be DLC. An Xbox Live-based release would put that right smack in the middle of those two options. Fans on Facebook and Twitter appear to be stumped at the decision, but don't expect a limited, top-down flashlight game or anything like that. We really doubt that Remedy Entertainment, known for its Max Payne series, is going to create a stripped-down game any time soon.

The mystery behind ?not Alan Wake 2? will be written on Monday and further explained at the Spike TV VGAs on December 10. Gaming Target will of course bring you details and analysis as soon as the news breaks.
