Alan Wake PC News: Remedy Entertainment brings Alan Wake to the PC seven years after being announced.
Remember when Alan Wake was first announced for the PC back at E3 2005? At that point, the game had been in development for two years, meaning it's been almost nine years since developer Remedy Entertainment started working on the long-stalled action-adventure game. Alan Wake did eventually make its way to the Xbox 360 in 2010 and now, two years after that, fulfills its commitment to PC gamers with today's release on Steam.
Alan Wake fans who haven't given up on the dodgy PC version (or their PC rig for more popular consoles) will be pleased to know that the game is just $30 and, until February 23, includes the two DLC packs, The Signal and The Writer. After that date, this collector's edition with revert to $35, while a normal, DLC-less version will takes the place of the $30 SKU. Not a bad deal if you hurry (aka if don't follow in Alan Wake's lethargic footsteps).
In addition to free, limited-time DLC, the PC version of Alan Wake sports higher resolution graphics (naturally, if your PC is up to par), fully configurable mouse and keyboard setups, Microsoft gamepad support, the ability to hide the HUD, the use of multiple screens and, finally, stereoscopic 3D for anyone who doesn't think those nVidia glasses don't look dorky.
УSince our roots are firmly placed in PC development, we're delighted to finally be able to bring Alan Wake to the PCФ says Matias Myllyrinne, CEO at Remedy. УWe've worked hard to reward those faithful PC players and did everything we could to make it worth the wait. I hope the fans agree with us, the PC version looks absolutely stunning.Ф
All of this leads to the release of Remedy's next Alan Wake project, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, a $15 XBLA game coming out on Tuesday.
