CoD MW3 News: As the CoD MW3 Double XP was winding down, Robert Bowling tweeted his exit from Infinity Ward and Activision.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 had the spring back in its step last week with the release of CoD MW3 DLC Collection 1 on Xbox 360 and the start of a Double XP Weekend on Friday. Monday, however, brought news of the resignation of series' creative strategist. Robert Bowling, the most recognizable face within Activision's billion-dollar video game property, tweeted, УToday, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision.Ф
Bowling's departure is the biggest loss to the Call of Duty franchise since Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zampella were dismissed from the company in 2010. They went on to form Respawn Entertainment and are currently developing an unannounced game for Electronic Arts. So far, we know three things about that game: It's a shooter, it's sci-fi oriented and it'll be able to compete with the likes of Gears of War and Halo.
Bowling, who tweets under the name fourtwozero, which he says Уwas my roster number while training at Ft. Benning in the US Army Infantry,Ф hasn't revealed what's next for him. Unless of course you count his recent Twitter response to a curious follower: УA nap. Maybe a long shower. Then possibly another nap.Ф
CoD MW3 will most certainly roll on with more monthly content drops for Elite members, Double XP Weekends and continued Collections until the day the next Call of Duty game releases. All signs point to CoD Black Ops 2 from Treyarch, so Activision has some time before they need to find Infinity Ward's next Robert Bowling.
