The first Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 trailer confirms that the next CoD game from developer Treyarch will indeed leave the 1960s Cold War era and be set in the near-future. The two-and-a-half-minute YouTube video reveals its story through the eyes of Sgt. Frank Woods, USMC (Ret.), a main character from the first Black Ops game two years ago.
The returning former sergeant, much older, with grey hair and in a wheelchair in CoD Black Ops 2, begins by saying, УAside from the fact that I'm still alive, none of this surprises me.Ф At this point, the video plays a series of clips of cutting-edge technology and devastatingly accurate explosions from helicopters, drones and robots. УTechnology got strong, but we got weaker.Ф
УWe built computers, robots, whole unmanned armiesФ Woods says before raising a question. УNo one ever asks: what happens when the enemy steals the keys?Ф All of a sudden, wayward drones, helicopters and jets start turning on what looks to be the American homeland. Woods explains that Уthey'll always need men like us. Those who are willing to do what others cannot.Ф Enter armed-to-the-teeth marines, who have to take on this enemy who Уcould be anywhere and could be anyone,Ф as one of the teaser trailers had suggested.
Another leaked video thought be related to CoD: Black Ops 2 is also proven to be very real, as the advanced weapon, the Prototype Quadrotor with Machine Gun, is very much in this first gameplay trailer. It was originally depicted in a fake real-life (makes sense, right?) as a new remote drone weapon and had an actor playing a Russian demoer saying. At the end of the YouTube clip, Уthis baby might just be in the next Call of Duty game.Ф No surprise here.
In true Call of Duty fashion, once the pesky dialogue is complete, the CoD: Black Ops 2 trailer turns into a series of explosion-filled clips, with buildings crumbling, planes being downed and vehicles being set ablaze. The best information comes right at the end, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 release date is November 13, 2012.
