CoD Black Ops 2 News: Before Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 comes out, find out what pre-orders are available from Amazon.com and others.

TEXT

We're still focused on the CoD MW3 Collection 2 DLC, which came out on Xbox 360 yesterday, but Activision is already turning our attention to CoD Black Ops 2 pre-orders in preparation of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game's November release date. That means Amazon, GameStop and Best Buy are giving gamers extra goodies for a downpayment on the highly-anticipated first-person shooter. These free pre-order bonuses sound tempting, even though we still want to wait for the expected CoD Black 2 Hardened Edition to be announced and see what collector's items come this this year's Call of Duty game. In the meantime, let's take a look at what each retailer currently has in stock.

Amazon is packing CoD Black Ops 2 with a digital wallpaper pre-order bonus. Because this wallpaper pre-order doesn't need to be shipped, Amazon is eschewing its usual ?we'll mail it went the game ships? rule and sending pre-orders the URL to access the wallpaper two days after placing their order. It's not the greatest bonus in the world - and sounds like something that can easily be acquired once enough people download it - but at least it's something.

GameStop, meanwhile, is going two steps further by not only offering a physical poster, but one that's two-sided. The CoD Black Ops 2 poster pre-order is joined by another bonus, a free CoD MW3 prestige token to use in the current game. This prestige token can only be redeemed on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of MW3 (no ?DICE? PC gamers), and it's only available to Power-Up Rewards members, so you have to have bought into $15 scam plan that GameStop employees pester you about every time you walk into the store. I'm never quite sure how my ?year-long membership has expired? twice within a year and a half.

Finally, Best Buy is giving you something physical for your paper money, too: a dog tag. This is the same pre-order that came with Battlefield 3 last year, so there's nothing new here if you already own/lost that piece of swag. You're bound to repeat that with the CoD Black Ops 2 dog tag as well.

The GameStop pre-order poster seems to be the only worth bonus if you're looking to buy the standard version of CoD Black Ops 2 when it comes out this November. However, between now and that release date, we'll learn about the Hardened Edition of the game; considering these so-so pre-order items, it seems worth holding out just a little bit longer.
