PlanetSide 2 News: Latest PlanetSide 2 trailer demos air combat with СFlight of the Valkyries' music.

PlanetSide 2 trailer flying

PlanetSide 2, Sony Online Entertainment's F2P MMOFPS game with an unknown release date, is demoing its air combat in style - with the song УFlight of the ValkyriesФ playing in the background. There's really no better way to introducing a swarm of aircraft in a video game these days. Of course, while this new PlanetSide 2 trailer on YouTube harkens back to the film Apocalypse Now, the aircraft in this game aren't your 1970s Vietnam helicopters. No, because PlanetSide 2 is a futuristic sci-fi MMO, it features massive airships above the world of Auraxis.

This minute-and-a-half YouTube trailer for PlanetSide 2 is heavy on artillery and explosions and light on new details about the game. We know it'll be an expansive first-person shooter with three different factions just like its predecessor. Unlike the first PlanetSide, however, PlanetSide 2 will be free-to-play, eschewing the subscription model that so many other MMO games are shedding these days. SOE certainly has experience with this transition. As Gaming Target has reported on in the past year, both DC Universe Online and EverQuest 2 have abandoned their subscription fees in favor of a F2P model.

PlanetSide 2 is still in the beta process and we don't have a release date just yet. However, with E3 2012 right around the corner, we hope to update you with more news on the game in less than two weeks time.
