The Walking Dead, AMC's other hit show, is getting another video game following debut of the ongoing episodic game from Telltale Games. Officially called ?The Walking Dead Video Game,? this one is a first-person shooter by Activision and developer Terminal Reality.
It has players assume the role of Daryl Dixon, a mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor, who is with Merle, his overbearing brother, on a quest to make it to the ?supposed' safety of Atlanta. This Xbox 360, PS3 and PC-bound first-person shooter is supposed to encourage ?do-whatever-you-need-to-survive? action gameplay, which is fitting for the undead-filled TV series.
?The work AMC has done with the TV series has been amazing and we're ecstatic at the opportunity to be brought into the fold,? said Drew Haworth, Creative Director at Terminal Reality. ?The studio is made up of fans of the show, and we think other fans will see that the situations and walkers featured in our game are every bit as gruesome and shocking as they are in the TV series ? they look, move and react as expected with full authenticity ? and they will surprise you. The player's fight-or-flight survival instinct is constantly engaged. ?Flight' is usually a good bet.?
The Dixons will have to tread carefully, as undead walkers will attempt to hunt down them down via sight, sound and smell through the otherwise George countryside. Like ants at a picnic, once you attract one, they pretty much become an unstoppable horde.
Interestingly, this first-person shooter with a 2012 release date is the second Walking Dead game. The Telltale Games title took more of a action-adventure approach. Yet, we can't get one Breaking Bad video game of any sort? The least developer Terminal Reality can do is throw in some of Mr. White's blue crystal into The Walking Dead Video Game for good measure.
