Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally in development and will hit next the Xbox One and PS4. This announcement during E3 by Square Enix was the moment Kingdom Hearts fans have had to wait almost a decade to hear. Kingdom Hearts 2 was released back in 2005 on the PS2 and they have been clamoring for a sequel ever since. The end of Kingdom Hearts 2 hinted at a keyblade war and Kingdom Hearts fans are eager to find out where the story goes next.
Kingdom Hearts 3 features a mature Sora as the main protagonist who sets forth on an adventure with Mickey, Donald and Goofy through new and legendary Disney worlds. Believing light and darkness must remain in balance, Master Xehanort seeks to spark war against the ‘tyranny of light’ to restore equilibrium. In an effort to undermine Xehanort’s plot, Sora, Donald and Goofy search for seven guardians of light and the “Key to Return Hearts,” while King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders.
A key trait of Kingdom Hearts is the universe packed full of worlds based on Disney properties with appearances by Final Fantasy characters. Unfortunately little else is known about Kingdom Hearts 3 at this time. No release date has been given as of yet but it was great to hear that Kingdom Hearts 3 is “officially” in development now. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be on the Xbox One and PS4. Which version will you pick up?
