GTA 5 iFruit companion app is now available on all iOS devices

GTA 5 News: Rockstar releases GTA 5 companion app on iOS devices with no mention of Android or Windows Phone versions.

GTA 5 is now available in stores and to help celebrate this occasion Rockstar has also released a companion app. This companion app is titled “iFruit” and the description is below,

“How would we survive without apps? Apps can transform your mobile device into essential tools like a harmonica, disco ball or convincing moustache. Somewhere out there is the perfect storm of touchscreen technology to fix everything that’s wrong with your life. And maybe all you’re missing is the iFruit app. Maybe not. At least you’ll have something to keep you entertained while your significant other prattles on endlessly about their day.

iFruit hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction. Keep up-to-date on the latest Grand Theft Auto V news, log into the Rockstar Games Social Club, stay connected on LifeInvader and launch other Rockstar Games apps.”

When you first start up the app you are prompted to log into your Rockstar Social Club. Once you do that and agree to the TOS, you are presented with nine different maps within this meta app. The iFruit main menu lets you access LS Customs, Chop the Dog, Settings, GTA V, LifeInvader, Social Club, Store, GTA III and Vice City.

The Los Santos Customs app will let you create your ultimate vehicle in GTA 5. You can create and reserve custom license plates for both GTA 5 and GTA Online. You can also choose from smoke colors, wheels, hoods, spoilers, window tints and paint jobs. You can upgrade your engine, brakes, exhaust and suspension. Some of the accessories available include new lights, horns, tires and body armor. You can do all of this from your iPhone or iPad and it will be ready for you the next time you boot up GTA5.

The next app is Chop The Dog where you can tend to a virtual pet. Chop is Franklin’s dog in Grand Theft Auto 5. If you do a good job of looking after Chop via this app then you will be rewarded when you play as Franklin in GTA 5. You can do all type of activities with chop such as tug-of-war, walk him, pet him, play fetch and more. If you do too much of one activity though then Chop becomes unhappy. If you successfully look after Chop and make him happy you will be rewarded in GTA 5 as he will become more responsive and helpful to Franklin. He will perform tricks, sniff out the nearest hidden items when you take him for a walk in the game and you can earn enough credits through walks and other activities to exchange them for new collars for Chop which will obviously make him happy.

The next app up is LifeInvader which is GTA’s version of Facebook. By launching this program you can see recent posts from companies in Los Santos such as a cigarrette company or a travel agency like Elitas Travel. You can even post comments and stalk (their version of “like) a post or company. While you are there you can look at photos that have just been posted to show off a nice looking jet and various other items. There are also deals to be had here where you can earn discounts. By “stalking” Elitas Travel you can get 10% off your first purchase through ElitasTravel.com when you buy your own plane. You must own your own hangar in the Los Santos area for delivery though. Other discounts include Redwood Cigarettes offering a 10% discount on your first hospital visit, your first haircut being free at Herr Kutz Barber, a 10% discount on your first website purchase from Legendary Motorsport and more.

Clicking on the GTA 5 will open up the GTA 5 website where you can see some of the sights of Los Santos and Blaine County. Launching the Rockstar app will bring you to the Rockstar Warehouse where you can buy Rockstar merchandise such as GTA clothing, mugs, games and much more. When you push the GTA 3 button you are then taken to the App store where you can purchase and download GTA 3 for iOS and the same thing goes for Vice City.

The iFruit GTA 5 companion app is available for iOS devices only with no mention of a version coming to Android or Windows Phone. It is a free download and will allow you to basically play some GTA 5 even when you aren’t at home in front of your console. How cool is that? Tell us what you think below.
