GTA Online ‘stimulus package’ being offered by Rockstar to make up for glitches

GTA Online News: Rockstar reveals that they will be offering gamers a stimulus package in GTA Online to make up for launch problems.

Grand Theft Auto Online has not had a smooth launch. There have been many problems from people not being able to connect, to the game freezing when they do get connected, characters and levels being lost and more. It doesn’t look like Rockstar will be able to fix all of those problems but they are offering a “stimulus package” this month to try and make up for the inconvenience.

To help thank gamers for their patience and support of GTA Online, Rockstar has revealed that they will be dropping half a million dollars (GTA$) in the GTA Online bank accounts of all players this month, starting as early as next week. In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, Rockstar will be providing this GTA$ to players via two deposits of $250,000. No exact date was revealed but Rockstar hopes to be able to make the first deposit by the end of next week (after they have confirmed that issues causing game progress loss has been fixed). For the second installment of the $500,000 they hope to have that rolled out by the end of the month.

If you happened to have experienced cloud server errors, connection issues and lost game progress and characters in the first days of GTA Online it doesn’t look like you will be getting that back but Rockstar is hoping the free $500,000 will help get you on your way on your fresh start.

Some more of the details on how this will work are below:

You must play or have played Grand Theft Auto Online at any time during the month of October 2013 in order to qualify for the $500,000 deposit in your in-game account.

Players will first have to install a forthcoming GTA5 title update which they expect to happen next week. The title update (1.04) is expected to fix the remaining instances of issues that have caused vehicle purchase loss and will also enable the functionality through which we’ll be providing this GTA$ stimulus cash to players.

Rockstar will announce when each deposit is made so you know when to expect seeing the money in your in-game bank account.

Each of the two $250,000 deposits will be made by Rockstar and should automatically appear in the in-game GTA Online bank accounts of eligible players. Beyond downloading the forthcoming title update mentioned above, there should not be any additional special action required by eligible players to redeem.

As I mentioned above if you have lost a character or rank in GTA Online you won’t be getting those back unfortunately. The official statement from Rockstar on that matter is as follows:

“For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we’re giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Los Santos & Blaine extra sweet.”
