Watch Dogs Delay News: Watch Dogs release date has been delayed into next year on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and PC. Anxious pre-orders will have to wait.
The Watch Dogs release date has been delayed, pushing back one of the most anticipated current and next-generation video games being developed by Ubisoft. The new release date is scheduled for “spring 2014,” according to the company.
It’s official blog noted that the developers needed more time “to deliver deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming.”
Ubisoft has not addressed how it plans to remedy Xbox One and PS4 pre-orders that were to be bundled with Watch Dogs. We contacted Ubisoft, Sony and Microsoft and will update this story if we hear back.
Ubisoft said that it struggled whether or not to enact the Watch Dogs delay. However, the team at Ubisoft Montreal didn’t want to compromise the quality of the game, which is set to launch for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U and PC.
The delay means that Watch Dogs pre-orders won’t see the game until next year and that it opens up a slot for other holiday-timed video game releases. Gamers may have time for Ubisoft’s other Triple-A title, Assassin’s Creed 4, which still maintains a release date of Oct. 29, 2013.
Ubisoft didn’t specify any exact technical reason for the Watch Dogs delay, but said that it became clear it needed more time to “polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.”
Watch Dogs has garnered a fair amount of accolades from press events, including E3 2013, boosting its reputation as one of the better-looking next-generation games to own. That was going to be key when the new consoles, Xbox One and PS4, this November.
Gaming Target will have more news about the Watch Dogs delay and the game updates as the year continues and Ubisoft puts more of that promised fine tuning into its espionage action-adventure thriller.
