Titanfall News: EA confirms that Titanfall is a permanent exclusive on Xbox One and will not be hitting the PS4.

Titanfall

Titanfall is coming to Xbox One on March 11, 2014 and is the most anticipated “launch window” game in the industry for the two next gen consoles. Even though Titanfall was going to be exclusive to Xbox One (as far as next gen consoles are concerned) everyone assumed it would eventually find it’s way to the PS4. That apparently won’t happen according to EA.

Earlier today EA had it’s quarterly earnings call where they completely squashed the rumors of Titanfall ever appearing on Sony’s next gen machine. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that Titanfall “is exclusive only for the lifetime of the title on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.”

It appears that EA made this exclusivity deal without ever really including Respawn in the decision. Below is a tweet that came from Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment:

Titanfall

Questions immediately arose as to whether this exclusivity deal was for just the one game or for the franchise itself. While Zampella didn’t explicitly say that Titanfall 2 will come to Sony platforms, he did confirm that Respawn games will make their way to the PS4, just not the first Titanfall game. Keep in mind that we also recently reported that Microsoft is offering free dedicated servers to developers as an incentive to put their game on Microsoft’s new machine.

What do you think about this development? Titanfall (at least the first entry in the franchise) is now a permanent exclusive for Microsoft in the console market. It will hit Xbox One (as well as Xbox 360) on March 11, 2014. Will you buy an Xbox One to play Titanfall? Tell us your thoughts below.
