News: Activision and Infinity Ward have revealed that Call of Duty: Ghosts players get to try out some DLC for free this weekend on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Call of Duty: Ghosts recently released new DLC with the Onslaught pack and now you are going to get a chance to try it out for free. Activision and Infinity Ward will be offering a Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC Pack 1 free trial on Xbox Live this weekend. Starting Friday, March 21, and going through Monday, March 24th, gamers on Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be able to try out the DLC at no cost. The free trial includes the four new small-to-medium multiplayer maps - Fog, BayView, Containment and Ignition; the dual-purpose Maverick weapon; and the first installment in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative - Episode 1: Nightfall. On Friday, owners of Call of Duty: Ghosts will just need to sign in to Xbox Live, download the Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC Pack 1 from the in-game store and jump into a match.
The maps for this Onslaught DLC include:
Fog - A chilling homage to classic horror films, set alongside the banks of a murky lake. Players skilled enough to pick up the map’s unique Field Order can become the embodiment of terror by donning the mask of Michael Myers, one of cinema’s most iconic horror characters of all-time, as the entire soundscape changes to the eerily familiar Halloween theme music.
Bayview - A coastal Californian boardwalk that offers players fast paced run-and-gun gameplay amid a seaside town. Clever players will be able to climb onto the map’s moving trolley to engage enemies, as well as call in devastating artillery strikes from the Naval Destroyer anchored offshore.
Containment - Drops players into a raging battle amidst a war-torn Mexican village, where the action centers on the crippled remains of a small bridge holding a hi-jacked truck leaking radioactive material.
Ignition - A reimagined version of “Scrapyard” - the fan favorite from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - placing players into a deserted space launch facility with a frenetic action amongst abandoned warehouses, flame trenches, a massive transport crawler, and dynamic map elements that can take players out if they’re not paying close attention.
This free trial weekend is only for Xbox gamers, however, Activision has said that the DLC trial will arrive on other platforms at a later date. Will you try out this DLC for free this weekend? Tell us what you think below.
