News: Bungie has released some “dev notes” that talk about current and upcoming patches for Destiny.

Destiny

Bungie is hard at work issuing fixes and patches for Destiny and listening to their community and earlier today they released some “dev notes” talking about a patch that just came out as well as some changes that will occur in the next month or two. One of the big stories today for Destiny players is that it appears Bungie has “fixed” the now famous Loot Cave so people can’t gather there and keep easily farming items. Bungie said that, even they were humbled by the response the Loot Cave was generating, it was not intended to work that way and it “wasn’t their dream” for how everything would work. So, with that said, the Loot Cave exploit is pretty much a done deal.

Some good news for Destiny players though came when Bungie revealed that they are going to try and fix some of the problems they have with the loot system. They had the following to say about Destiny’s loot system:

“Long ago during development, the Cryptarch decoded engrams of a given color into gear of that same color. Early in 2014 we added randomness, both for better and worse, to the decrypting process. The result was that end-of-session engram decoding got a lot more exciting and the Cryptarch himself suddenly acquired a personality. Both of these experiences were positive additions to the game.

But we didn't adequately communicate the potential random outcomes of decryption. Players see what looks like the familiar metaphor of item identification, while the Cryptarch thinks he's opening a grab bag of loot. Rage sharding of blues ensues. Expect to see changes to address this soon.”

Bungie also discussed how, during the development cycle, they would sometimes prioritize making a system functional over celebrating the rewards you might get for doing something. An example they gave is the Vault of Glass raid that contains highly coveted loot but the actual moment of reward happens without fanfare and can be easily missed. They said that they have plans to address these and other issues going forward.

Apparently there are also some strikes in Destiny that are a bit more challenging then they are supposed to be so they are working on a fix that will make the Strikes a little less “grindy” as a result.

There are other fixes on the way to such as weapon balance and improving upon the voice communication system in the game. What do you think about all of these changes? It is nice to see that Bungie is paying attention and listening to the community. Do you have any other issues that you would like to see Bungie address? Let us know in the comments section below.
