News: 2K Sports has revealed that they will not be including some of the most popular divas on the roster in WWE 2K16.
2K Sports disappointed and frustrated a lot of wrestling fans yesterday by revealing that the most popular NXT divas will not be in WWE 2K16 this year. Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Bayley (known as the Four Horsewomen) will not grace our gaming consoles this year, not even as DLC. 2K Sports wouldn’t go into specifics as to why this is the case other than “it simply did not work out for various reasons.”
I think most people understand that there needs to be a cutoff date for adding people to the game’s roster. I’m not sure what that exact date is but just for the sake of this article, I’m going to assume it was May 1. So if the date was indeed May 1 then that means if someone new makes a debut on July 1 and gets really popular that he or she most likely won’t make it onto the main roster of the game. In previous years this type of issue had been solved through DLC. Once the game was available in stores 2K Sports (as well as THQ back when they had the license) would work on adding the new guys and gals through DLC. Apparently that isn’t even happening this year. This is both frustrating and confusing for fans. Sasha Banks especially is the most popular diva on the roster right now and with the current Divas Revolution going on in WWE this is a badly blown opportunity by 2K Sports and the WWE. There were quite a few people that were looking forward to having the Boss in WWE 2K16 and now we might have to wait until WWE 2K17 to see it?
2K Sports claims that WWE 2K16 has the largest roster to date featuring the most divas they have ever had. The problem is that they aren’t giving people the divas that they want. The other divas on the roster are all fantastic. The Bella twins are great, Paige is good, Naomi and all of those divas are all good and definitely should be in the game and it is great to see that they are. Wrestling fans want to see the new divas as well though. It is perfectly understandable if they didn’t have time to put the Four Horsewomen in the main game. Not offering them as DLC at a later date though is mind boggling, especially given what is happening with WWE right now. It is a huge misstep for 2K Sports and while I doubt this will affect the sales of the or anything, it does put a damper on the “largest roster to date.”
