Final Fantasy IX is now available on the App Store as well as for Google Play. This remastered version of Final Fantasy IX is currently on sale for $16.99 and then will go up to the normal price of $20.99 beginning on February 21. This version of Final Fantasy IX brings with it some new features including the following:

  • High-definition movies and character models

  • New cloud save feature allows players to back up save data to play across other compatible devices

  • Auto save function

  • Seven all-new optional booster features, including high speed mode and no encounter mode, which allow players to automatically master equipped weapons and gear, as well as maximize character levels, magic stone counts and gil

  • First released in 2000, Final Fantasy IX tells the story of the bandit Zidane Tribal who plans to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, Garnet Til Alexandros the 17th, with the troupe of thieves known as Tantalus. An unlikely series of events set Zidane, Garnet, the shy yet powerful black mage Vivi Ornitier, the loyal knight Adelbert Steiner, and other memorable characters on an epic journey as they learn about themselves, the secrets of the Crystal, and a malevolent force that threatens to destroy their world.

If you aren’t the type of person who likes to game on a phone and/or a table then you will be happy to hear that Final Fantasy IX will also be coming to Steam at a later date. It will come with standard Steam features including achievements and trading cards. Looking at the Final Fantasy IX listing in the Steam store the release date is “Early 2016” so hopefully that should be coming soon.

With the release of the Steam version do you think it will ever arrive on consoles? More specifically do you think it will arrive on the PlayStation 4 alongside the recent Final Fantasy VII release? Are you going to pick up this version of Final Fantasy IX? Tell us what you think below.
