It appears that Kotaku’s sources were correct. Sony has officially delayed No Man’s Sky until August 9, 2016. It was originally set to come out on June 21, 2016. You can see the revised date on PlayStation.com.
------------------------------------------
No Man’s Sky is currently set to be released on June 21 but if recent rumors are to be believed we might not be seeing it until later in the summer. According to Kotaku their “sources” have indicated that No Man’s Sky might be pushed back until July or August. Fueling the speculation is the fact that Gamestop stores apparently received marketing material for No Man’s Sky with the June 21 release date but they were instructed to cover up that release date with a “Coming Soon” label.
Your voyage through No Man's Sky is your own. You might be a fighter, preying on the weak or tracking pirates for their bounties. Or maybe a trader, scouting for the richest resources on forgotten worlds and exploiting them for the highest prices. Or perhaps an explorer, going beyond the known frontier to discover places and things that no one has ever seen before.
No Man’s Sky is a game about survival and exploration in a procedurally generated galaxy. It is an incredibly ambitious title that has had a lot of hype surrounding it since its initial reveal a few years ago. In No Man’s Sky you will be able to explore uncharted solar systems and catalog unique new forms of life. Every planet’s landscape will be different from the next, and populated by species never before encountered.
If and when we hear official confirmation about the release date of No Man’s Sky we will be sure to update this story. Until then, take a look at the trailer below and tell us what you think about this latest potential delay.
