News: Microsoft’s Xbox One slim model is now available with some bundles coming later including a custom Gears of War 4 console in October.

The 2TB Xbox One S console is now available in stores. Microsoft claims that this launch edition is only available in limited quantities so if you want one of these keep that in mind. Some of the new features for this redesigned Xbox One include the following:

  • Xbox One S offers a great value as one of the top 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players on the market - This means you can watch your favorite movies in stunning 4K. The 2TB launch edition Xbox One S will be available for $399 USD with 1TB and 500GB Xbox One S options starting at $299 USD over the coming weeks.

  • You can play over 100 console exclusives, and with High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming, Xbox One titles like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Scalebound and NBA 2K17 will look even better thanks to a higher contrast ratio between lights and darks, bringing out the true visual depth of your favorite games. And don’t forget about the growing library of backward compatible Xbox 360 games.

  • You can also stream movies or TV shows in 4K Ultra HD with content from partners like Netflix, available now. More content from other providers such as Amazon Video and others is also on the way.

  • The footprint of the Xbox One S console is 40% smaller than the original Xbox One and it features a built-in power supply instead of the traditional “power brick” that Xbox consoles have normally had.

  • If you are someone who wants to wait for a holiday bundle then you can pick up the Madden NFL 17 and Halo Collection bundles respectively beginning on August 23. Additionally there is a custom Xbox One S being made for Gears of War 4 that will be available in October when Gears of War 4 is released.

The decrease in the footprint size of the Xbox One S means that Microsoft had to take out some things and one of those was the dedicated Kinect port. You can still use Kinect with the Xbox One S but you will need to use a USB adapter. If you are upgrading from the original Xbox One to the Xbox One S then you should be able to get this adapter for free from Microsoft. If the Xbox One S is your first Xbox One console then you will need to buy the adapter. If you contact Microsoft to try and get this USB adapter for free you will need to give them the serial number of your old system as well as the new one to prove you have upgraded from an older console. If you don’t own a Kinect but want one they are available for $99.99 and the Xbox Kinect Adapter can be purchased for $39.99.

Do you plan on picking up the Xbox One S? If so, which model will you pick up? Tell us what you think below.
