News: Three new Xbox 360 games are now playable on Xbox One and offer a decent mixture of genres.
Major Nelson has revealed that more games have been added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility library today. Three new titles join the lineup and are now available for you to install and play on your Xbox One. These titles include the following:
Tekken 6
Midway Arcade Origins
Mutant Storm Empire
For those who might not be familiar with these titles, a brief description of each is below:
Tekken 6
”A must-have for Tekken aficionados, Tekken 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to create the largest line-up the series has ever seen. With a growing roster of fighters, each equipped with their own deadly techniques, moves and attack combinations,
Tekken 6 will be the best King of Iron Fist Tournament yet. Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only further enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players go mano-y-mano. Players can also take the battle online for classic match-ups and to compete for world domination.”
Midway Arcade Origins
”New players can experience the seminal classics, while longtime fans of classic arcade games can re-master their favorite titles with new Xbox 360 Achievements support. Players will also be able to enjoy many games with up to three of their friends in local, co-op multiplayer and post their high scores online.
The collection offers genre-defining favorites, including Defender, Gauntlet, Joust, Rampage, and Total Carnage, as well as 720 ° , A.P.B., Arch Rivals, Bubbles, Championship Sprint, Tournament Cyberball 2072, Defender II, Gauntlet II, Joust 2, Marble Madness, Pit-Fighter, Rampart, Robotron 2084, Root Beer Tapper, Satan’s Hollow, Sinistar, Smash TV, Spy Hunter, Spy Hunter II, Super Off Road, Super Sprint, Toobin’, Vindicators Part II, Wizard of Wor, Xenophobe, and Xybots.”
Mutant Storm Empire
”“Mutant Storm Empire” is packed with sci-fi action as players crush gangs of robots, smash swarms of UFOs and demolish massive enemy bosses. “Mutant Storm Empire,” the latest shooter from PomPom games and the sequel to “Mutant Storm Reloaded,” features 16 unique levels spread over four richly detailed and varied worlds. The game offers a seamless experience where players move from room to room without having to enter a loading screen, in addition to offline co-op and multiplayer LIVE support for two people.”
To play these new games you obviously have to install them on your console. If you own the digital versions then they should be waiting for you in your “Ready to Install” list where you can tell the console to begin downloading it. If you own the disc version of Tekken 6 (the only one of the three games with a physical copy) then you put the disc in the Xbox One and initiate the installation like you normally do. Once you do that it will ping the Xbox Live servers and tell you it needs to download an update. This update is actually the game itself which you will be able to play once the download is complete. Keep in mind though that if you install the game using this method you will need to have the disc in the drive whenever you want to play the game for verification purposes.
