News: No release date has been set yet for the general public but those in the Insiders program should be able to test out this new functionality soon.
Microsoft has revealed that in the coming weeks they will be working with Discord to bring the popular platform to Xbox gamers. Soon you will be able to connect your Xbox Live account to your Discord so that your friends can potentially see what you are playing, and even jump in to the game to play with you. For example, if you are playing Sea of Thieves and you allow Discord to show your friends what game you are playing, they can decide whether or not they want to jump on Xbox and join you.
The way it will work appears to be quite simple. If you are in the Xbox Insiders program you will soon see the ability to link your Xbox One to Discord on your Xbox One. The way that you do that is as follows:
Open the Account Settings Menu on Xbox One
Select “Linked Social Accounts”
Select “Link” to begin the process of linking your accounts
Once you receive your unique code from your Xbox, open the Discord app and insert the code within the Connections tab
If you want to link your account on PC the way to do it is similar. Simply go to the Connections tab that is available under User Settings. Once you are there click on the option to sign into Xbox Live. After you enable the appropriate permissions your accounts will then be linked.
