News: GameFreak just revealed a new Pokemon game but it isn’t the core experience that is rumored to be in development.

Pokemon Quest has just been announced by GameFreak but it might not be the Pokemon game you were anticipating. There are rampant rumors of a core Pokemon title coming to the Nintendo Switch, however, this is not that title. During the announcement, it was stated that Pokemon Quest is “free to start” and will arrive on smartphones and the Nintendo Switch. For other examples of “free to start” games you can look at both Super Mario Run and Pokemon Go on mobile phones.

Apparently Pokemon Quest can be controlled with regular controls on television mode or touchscreen controls if you are using the portable nature of the Switch. According to ComicBook.com, Pokemon Quest “...involves exploring the mysterious Tumblecube Island, where players can battle wild Pokemon and collect powerful items. Players can power-up their Pokemon by using Power Stones, which allow them to customize their Pokemon's strengths and weaknesses.”

That is really all of the information we have to go on as of the time this story was posted. What do you hope to see in Pokemon Quest? Will you get it on the Switch or do you prefer to play it on your smartphone?
