News: You have woken up on a mysterious island and now you need to solve the riddle of the Wind Fish in order to get home.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is now available on Nintendo Switch both in the eShop and in retail stores. In addition to Link’s Awakening being now available, there is a new Link Amiibo available in the Link’s Awakening aesthetic. By pairing this Amiibo with Link’s Awakening you are able to add Shadow Link to your created dungeon which you will be able to do later on in the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was originally released on the Game Boy in 1993. It was the very first Legend of Zelda game to appear on a handheld console. Fast forward approximately 26 years later and now this classic title has been completely remade for the Nintendo Switch. The art style is obviously different (and has color...something Link’s Awakening didn’t have on Game Boy), and there have been some quality of life improvements to modernize Link’s Awakening a bit. With that said though, it is incredibly faithful to the original. The majority of the times are in the same location they were in the original title, the quests are the same, and even the place where you find the sword in the very beginning of the same is the same. It is an incredible trip down memory lane for those who played Link’s Awakening almost three decades ago and a great introduction to the title for newcomers.

In case you aren’t quite sure what The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is about, the premise is below:

”Link has washed ashore on a mysterious island with strange and colorful inhabitants. To escape the island, Link must collect magical instruments across the land and awaken the Wind Fish. Explore a reimagined Koholint Island that’s been faithfully rebuilt in a brand-new art style that will entice fans and newcomers alike. Battle enemies as you conquer numerous dungeons and uncover the hidden secrets of the island. Encounter Super Mario enemies like Goombas, Piranha Plants, and more, and interact with unique locals who help Link on his adventure.”

Some of the key features that you will come across in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening include:

  • As Link, explore a reimagined Koholint Island and collect instruments to awaken the Wind Fish to find a way home.

  • Explore numerous dungeons, riddled with tricks, traps, and enemies, including some from the Super Mario series.

  • Meet and interact with unique locals to get help on your adventure.

  • Listen to a reawakened soundtrack that helps bring life to Koholint Island.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is available for $59.99, both on the eShop and at your favorite game store. If you purchased one of those digital Switch game passes in July when Nintendo was selling them, you can use one of them to download Link’s Awakening. Take a look at the trailer below and then tell us what you think. Will you be picking up The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening?
