News: If you already own Crash Bandicoot 4 on Xbox One and PS4 you will be able to upgrade for free.

Activision has revealed that Crash Bandicoot is heading to the current generation of consoles next month. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time released in 2020 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. According to Toys For Bob though, not only will Crash be arriving on Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, it will also finally be arriving on the Nintendo Switch. Additionally, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will also launch on PC via Battle.net later this year. For now though, they are focusing on just the consoles.

If you purchased Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time on the Xbox One and/or PlayStation 4 last year you will be happy to know that you can upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S and/or PlayStation 5 version respectively. You need to remain in the same console family though so if you bought it on Xbox One, you will not be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version, for example. There will also be the ability to transfer save data so you don’t have to start a brand new game if you have already made some progress. All Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 gamers will be entitled to this free upgrade if you bought the last gen version, except for gamers that live in Japan. I’m not sure why that is the case but Activision did say this would not be happening in Japan. These upgrades will arrive next month on March 12.

If you intend on playing the PlayStation 5 version you’ll have a little something extra as well as Crash Bandicoot 4 will utilize the DualSense controller bringing adaptive triggers to the party. You will be able to feel the force of Neo Cortex’s DNA-changing blaster and experience the grip as they grapple with Tawna’s Hookshot. Additionally, the PlayStation 5’s Activity Card feature will give you a clear breakdown of your progress throughout each of the game’s dimensions, providing some guidance so you can achieve your objectives and more.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 for $59.99. You can also pre-order it on the Nintendo Switch for $39.99 in the eShop. The game will be arriving on PC later this year for $39.99 but pre-orders are available now. More information regarding the PC version will be released later this year.

Will you be picking up Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time when the current-gen version launches next month? Did you buy it last year and will be upgrading for free? Will you be picking up the Nintendo Switch version so you can play it anywhere? Check out the new trailer below and then tell us what you think.
