News: There are now even more games you can play at 120hz which should make for some silky smooth experiences.
A little earlier this year Microsoft unveiled FPS Boost for the Xbox Series X|S. FPS Boost is a feature that employs a variety of new methods to nearly double the original framerate on select titles. Today they revealed that thirteen more titles have entered the FPS Boost program. These new titles include the following:
Battlefield 1
Battlefield 4
Battlefield 5
Titanfall
Titanfall 2
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront II
Unravel Two
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
Sea of Solitude
Sea of Solitude now has support for 60hz, while every other title in that list can now support 120hz. There will be some instances where due to the higher graphical requirements to enable FPS Boost, they have had to reduce the resolution to make sure it runs smoothly and still plays great. In those examples, FPS Boost is not turned on automatically but you can easily enable it by going to Compatibility Options in the Manage game and add-ons setting. It should also go without saying but in order to experience FPS Boost, you will need to make sure your console has the current firmware and that you have rebooted your console once after getting it.
If you want to see whether or not your console is utilizing FPS Boost or Auto HDR you can tap the Xbox button on the controller while in the game. That will bring up a guide overlay and you can look at the top right of the screen to see what is enable and what isn’t.
In addition to the new titles listed above, the games below are also in the FPS Boost program:
Dishonored - Definitive Edition
Fallout 4
Fallout 76
Prey
The Eldger Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
Far Cry 4
New Super Lucky’s Tale
Sniper Elite 4
UFC 4
Watch Dogs 2
Have you used the FPS Boost feature yet on your Series X or Series S? If not, do you plan on using it in the future?
