News: Microsoft’s 20th Anniversary stream revealed some anticipated titles finally arriving in backward compatibility along with some Halo updates.
Update: Microsoft has pushed the update to Xbox consoles. It should be available for you to download now. Once downloaded, if you get an error message while trying to load the Halo Infinite multiplayer, restart your console and then everything should work.

Microsoft just held their 20th Anniversary stream for Xbox celebrating everything that has happened over the last two decades. The revealed that the Halo television series will finally launch on Paramount+ in 2022. They also revealed a sizable addition to the backward compatibility library. Beginning today there are more than 70 new titles available via backward compatibility. In addition, there are over 30 new games that are receiving the FPS Boost treatment and will run better than ever. You can check out the list for these games below.
Microsoft also talked a little bit about Halo Infinite. The game’s official launch is still December 8th, however, you can jump in and play the Halo Infinite beta right now. The beta will roll right into the final retail product in December though so for all intents and purposes, Halo Infinite multiplayer has just been made available three weeks early. As of the time this story was posted, the update has not been pushed to Xbox. You can download the Halo Infinite MP file on Xbox but it is only 282 MB at the moment. The full update should be available at any moment so people can download it and jump into Halo Infinite multiplayer.
Before the launch of the Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft announced they were taking a step back from the backward compatibility program. That made sense at the time because they wanted all of their focus to be on a successful launch of their new consoles. Global supply shortages notwithstanding, 2021 has been a very successful year for the Xbox Series X|S. Now at the 20th Anniversary of Xbox (and the one year anniversary of Xbox Series X|S), they have released a long list of backward compatible titles you can play, which you can see below.
