Developer Awaceb and publisher Kepler Interactive have released the second episode of its behind-the-scenes video mini-series for their upcoming title, Tchia. With the studio’s founders as your guides, you will discover the beautiful vistas, plant life, animals, and culture of the Pacific Island of New Caledonia, all of which inspired Tchia’s original world.
Awaceb, founded by two childhood friends from New Caledonia, is a small, nine-person Montreal-based studio creating a big adventure. Tchia draws inspiration from the homeland and firsthand experiences of these two friends, evoking the island nation’s customs, culture and gorgeous landscapes to create a powerful, fantastical island adventure. With a unique soundtrack and a cast of characters brought to life by talent from New Caledonia, Tchia is a true love letter to the team’s home.
Tchia is an open-world sandbox that invites players to jump into the adventure of a lifetime. Players can explore the ocean depths or become one with nature, with the game’s unique soul-jumping mechanic allowing them to take control of over 30 animals and hundreds of objects, turning the environment into the ultimate exploration tool.
Not everything is calm and relaxing in Tchia. The island the game’s heroine, Tchia, calls home has been invaded by strange fabric creatures called the Maano, who, under the orders of the archipelago’s evil ruler, have abducted her father. Players will have to use everything at their disposal to take them out. In between the action, players can rest, take a break and jam with a fully playable ukulele.
Take a look at the aforementioned video below and then tell us what you think. Will you try Tchia when it is released?
