News: If you are a member of Nintendo’s online service you now have access to some iconic titles from the past.

During the Nintendo Direct presentation today, Nintendo revealed that two more platforms were being added to the Switch Online library. Those two libraries have been requested by games for a while and feature Nintendo’s first foray into portable gaming. The original Game Boy and the Game Boy Advance libraries will now be slowly released on the Nintendo Switch, similar to how NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and Sega Genesis games have been. You need to be a Nintendo Switch Online member to gain access to the Game Boy library. To get access to the Game Boy Advance library you need to have the Nintendo Switch Online membership as well as the Expansion Pass tier that can you free downloadable content, in addition to a plethora of games that were available on this portable platform. The launch lineup for each platform is below.

  • Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins

  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX

  • Gargoyle’s Quest

  • Game & Watch Gallery 3

  • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

  • Metroid II - Return of Samus

  • Wario Land 3

  • Kirby’s Dream Land


  • Game Boy Advance

  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3

  • WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$

  • Kuru Kuru Kururin

  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit

  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap


  • For the Game Boy games, you can use either the Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, or Game Boy Color screen filters. Compatible games will feature multiplayer, both local and online. Nintendo also teased some of the games that will be coming in the future for each platform.
