News: This new 2TB SSD drive from SK Hynix delivers fast speed, good protection, and can be taken anywhere.

The SK Hynix Beetle X31 SSD 2TB drive recently arrived on the market and it is an impressive piece of equipment. The specs for it sounded impressive and I was excited to try it out. It did not disappoint as the product has performed as advertised so far. I immediately plugged in the hard drive to immediately put it to the test. I transferred some large files to see if the read and write speeds where as advertised and I was impressed. The SK Hynix Beetle X31 SSD 2TB boasts a sequential read and write speed of up to 1,050 MS/s (read) and up to 1,000 MB/s (write). This external hard drive is also compatible with just about anything. It is great to use as an external for your PC or laptop. Others will get a lot of use out of it by simply using it as a drive to back up some of your most important files. This drive will also work really well with PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

For those who want to get into the nitty gritty of the specifications for the device, here you go:

  • USB Specification: USB-C

  • Capacity: 2 TB (also available in 512GB and 1TB)

  • Input Power: 5V / 1.5A

  • Sequential Read & Write Speed: Read - Up To 1,050 MB/s, Write - Up To 1,000 MB/s

  • Compatibility: Xbox, PlayStation, Windows 10/11, MacOS, Android 10 and higher

  • The durability of the SK Hynix Beetle X31 is also quite impressive as well. It is, for the most part, “accident proof” thanks to the aluminum shell and silicone bumper case that will protect the drive from a drop of up to two meters. The compact nature of the product means it can go anywhere with you and will slide right in your pocket or purse for easy transport.

The two terabytes worth of space also mean that there is enough room to bring your work files with you, or your music collection, your video collection, or whatever. What I personally like to do is put seasons of my favorite television shows (or movies) on these drives for when I travel. Then when I get to my hotel room I hook the drive up to the USB port of the hotel tv and I immediately have access to all of my favorite stuff to watch. If you enjoy some smaller games (in terms of file size) then you should be able to put them on this drive as well.

Overall the SK Hynix Beetle X31 SSD 2TB drive is one of the best portable SSD drives that I have ever owned. It is incredibly fast and its small form factor allows me to easily take it anywhere, whether it is to work or on the road like in my example earlier. At the time of this writing Amazon has the drive available for $169.99 so it is pretty affordable as well as far as these hard drives are concerned. If you are looking for a new (and portable) hard drive, be sure to check this one out.
