News: For those looking for an extraction shooter set in an urban environment, you might want to check out this playtest.

”Outlawed”

Okami Studio has revealed that the technical playtest for Outlawed, their upcoming PvPvE first-person extraction shooter, will begin tomorrow. The playtest will start at 7pm Eastern on February 13th, 2025 (00:00 UTC on February 14th). This is a technical playtest, and the experience is not yet fully optimized; players should expect some bugs and incomplete features as the development team continues to refine the game. In addition to the playtest announcement, Okami Studio unveiled a new trailer and key art, providing a glimpse of what’s to come.

The technical playtest will be available exclusively through Steam Playtest, and access will be granted to players located in North America and China only. A total of 5,000 playtest slots are available in each region, offering a limited but exciting chance to experience the game before its official release.

Outlawed offers an exciting blend of PvPvE action set in a sprawling, crime-ridden urban environment. This online multiplayer game pits up players against each other in squads of three on a massive urban map teeming with rival gangs. Whether teaming up with friends or venturing solo, players will need strategy, teamwork, and quick thinking to overcome challenges and make their escape. In addition to the core gameplay, the playtest introduces new features like customizable player skins, challenging boss fights, and new vehicles with vehicle evacuation options, allowing for even more dynamic gameplay.

Technical Playtest Key Features:

  • Combat, Survival, and Evacuation: Work with your squad to fight rival teams and gang forces while scavenging valuable resources. Timed evacuations are crucial to securing your loot and surviving the chaos.

  • Expansive Urban Map: Explore a massive 10-square-kilometer cityscape with diverse terrains, including urban centers, suburbs, highways, mountains, and rivers. Use the environment to gain the upper hand in combat.

  • Customizable Weaponry & Tactical Gear: Modify over 30 weapon types, personalize your loadouts, and choose from a range of tactical gear such as drones, airstrikes, and medkits to adapt to each encounter.

  • Vehicle Combat & Mobility: Drive a variety of land and water-based vehicles for fast travel or engage in combat from a new vantage point. Use zip lines and parachutes for high-mobility navigation across the map.

  • The Okami Studio team encourages playtesters to provide feedback as they refine the game and ensure that it delivers the best possible experience upon release. Check out the aforementioned trailer and then tell us what you think. Will you participate in this playtest?
