Independent game developer Chase the Bunny has revealed that their game Tails of Fate, a beautiful hand-drawn 2D action-adventure Metroidvania, is coming later this year. Tails of Fate combines old-school RPG charm with modern, dynamic combat. Players will engage with a cast of memorable characters as they embark on a captivating journey, collect hidden treasures, customize their equipment, and challenge unforgettable bosses. With gameplay mechanics that are unique to each of the game's three playable characters, fans will enjoy a new level of variety and replayability in the Metroidvania genre. Additionally, composer Yuko Komiyama--known best for her work on the Monster Hunter, Mega Man X, and Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series--provides the game's main theme and score for their debut trailer on their already-successful crowdfunding campaign. Tails of Fate will release on PC and Nintendo Switch 2 in December 2026. For those interested in the Kickstarter, click here.

The Tails of Fate crowdfunding campaign reached its goal within hours of launching and will run through Friday, March 7, 2025. Stretch goals include additional DLC, additional console ports, and more. Backers can get a copy of the game for £19 (about $24 USD), with digital and physical art books and soundtracks, exclusive demo builds and skins, mega cute plushies, and even the ability to contribute to the design of the game's items, NPCs, and quests at higher backing levels.

"With Tails of Fate, we set out to create a Metroidvania where player choice shapes not just combat but the entire journey," comments the Chase the Bunny team. "Drawing inspiration from the intricate enemy room layouts and RPG elements of Castlevania, as well as the fluid exploration and precise combat of Hollow Knight, the game allows players to seamlessly switch between three distinct characters, each with unique abilities that unlock new paths and transform how you explore the world. Combined with a rich array of items that reshape combat and playstyle, every challenge can be tackled in multiple ways. Your choices don’t just impact how you fight—they influence how you navigate the environment, uncover secrets, and experience the story, making every playthrough a one-of-a-kind adventure.”

Key Features:

  • Play as three different characters and seamlessly switch between different play styles and movesets. Charge into combat and swing your powerful sword, or lurk in the shadows and headhunt your victims with a crossbow.

  • Discover hidden areas and secrets as you explore a stunning, interconnected, beautifully hand-drawn pixel art world with over ten different biomes and zero load times.
