A Polish studio, Hed Media Games, has revealed that their upcoming title, CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights, will have a demo during Steam Next Fest. This bold, brutal and hilariously over-the-top title is a taxi simulator, combined with action packed RPG elements to provide a journey through the streets of a dystopian, criminal world inspired by action movies from the 90s.
“This project is the result of our long-standing passion for interacting with video games. We are both, by the way, fans of 90s action movies, we liked it when it went: boom. This is something we treat with certain nostalgia, so I’m all the more pleased that we were able to let our imagination run wild here, while creating our own ‘action cinema’ that gamers can be a part of. Enjoy the ride!,” says the Liebert brothers, creators of the game.
As the only decent taxi drivers in Prison City, players will have to make their way through streets full of criminals as quickly or safely as possible (if possible at all). They will have an almost infallible yellow taxi at their disposal... along with a whole arsenal of weapons, which they can buy with money earned by driving customers. Or as a reward for running over the variety of thugs, bandits and other problem-seekers.
Here's what else awaits you during your late-night runs in this chaotic city:
Two alternative combat modes: Engage in a carnage behind the wheel or step out to handle business face-to-face with a variety of weapons. The choice is yours, until it goes “boom”.
Totally realistic mechanics, NOT: Cigarettes as first-aid kits? Energy drinks for stamina boosts? CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights embraces its absurdity, just to make you laugh… or honk.
Taxi sim meets action RPG: Hoping for a 5-star review? Pick up passengers while battling rival gangs, dodging bullets, and lighting up yet another pack of smokes. Manage your car’s energy level, buy new stuff (sure, you can get a plug-in fan, but why not invest in a rocket launcher?) and make your way through the chaos.
A living, still breathing (somehow) city: Explore it while you can! Try to walk through the dystopian Prison City, uncover its dirty secrets, and take care of your car.... After all, you don't want to be stuck in a dark alley (or any other alley).
Take a look at the trailer and then tell us what you think. Will you play CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights during Steam Next Fest?
