News: A new roguelite is headed your way later this year but it isn’t like anything you have played before in the category.

”Wizard

Wizard Cats is arriving a little later this year from developer BigFrogg. Wizard Cats isn’t just another roguelite — it’s the first game of its kind featuring a codebase that dynamically writes itself in real-time based on the spells players want to craft. This groundbreaking feature is powered by a spell engine that allows the game to adapt, evolve, and cater to the unique desires of each player; the result is a magic system that feels alive. It's as if the game has a tiny programmer embedded into it committing code based on player input, enabling a spell crafting system with infinite possibilities.

Step into the paws of a regular cat thrust into a magical realm teeming with dangerous creatures. Combine up to seven runes each inscribed with their own unique meanings to create the perfect spell for any situation. Find synergies in Arcana and combo spells — every run challenges the player to customize their ultimate wizard build on the fly.

Like a real magic system, the spell engine interprets the player’s incantation in real time and creates the in-game code to power the spell. Meaning that even the creators of the game can’t predict what will happen. With near limitless possible spell combinations for players to discover, no two wizards will ever be the same. Whether summoning fiery storms or conjuring walls of lightning, every spell is a testament to a player’s ingenuity.

Key features include:

  • Unprecedented Spellcrafting Freedom: Mix and match runes, Arcana, and Power Shards to create devastating synergies and unique magic. It is up to the player to learn to tame the game’s spell system.

  • A World That Learns: Enemies can access player-created spells, meaning that the magic you wield today may be used against you tomorrow.

  • A Living Spell Compendium: Be the first to create a spell, and your name will be forever etched into the game’s magic system for others to see.

  • Vibrant, Hand-Drawn Art: All art is lovingly crafted by talented artists, ensuring a visually enchanting experience.

  • Take a look at the trailer below and then tell us what you think. Wizard Cats will arrive on PC via Steam later this year.
