Review: Luigi really let himself go in SMBDX

Nintendo's instant classic Super Mario Brothers made Nintendo very popular. Nintendo wanted to sell Super Mario Brothers with each system and also they had other version that had both Duck Hunt and Super Mario Brothers. Now Nintendo has released this great classic for the anniversary. Unfortunately you will need a Game Boy Color to enjoy this classic.

Although the visuals in Super Mario Brothers Deluxe may not look to good next to today's technology, they are very impressive on a Game Boy Color. When you first begin this game you will be brought back to your childhood when you played this game for many hours. You will find the nostalgia of this game over come you again. The special effects in this game aren't like Games today but they are welcome on the Game Boy Color. The speed of this game is great and there is no slowdown that I have come across.

The audio in Super Mario Brothers Deluxe is very modern and the music may sound a little childish but you will find your self-humming the sound all day. This game sounds just like the Nintendo version but there is added music in the Main Menu that sounds a little different. Just like in the original the music will speed up to show that you are running out of time to beat the level. The music and sound in this game will bring back great memories about how much games changed since then and that classics always are classics.

The gameplay in Super Mario Brothers Deluxe is very addictive and enjoyable. The added features make the game even better. The controls are very well done and are just like the original. There are Time Trials for each level so you can earn little extras to get more excitement out of this great game. It has Multi Player support that lets you and a friend or Family member play against each other in new levels to race to the end and reach the goal in time. While you are racing you can make little dangers for your buddy by hitting the button to slow them down or actually defeat them. You can also play these fun games with a computer also. The computer is a Ghost and you are either Mario or Luigi.

The ability to play as Mario or Luigi is a nice little touch that Nintendo put into this game. Also when you beat a Level it will actually say the name of the person you beat it with. Like if you are playing as Luigi it will say Luigi in the message. Of course these are little but it makes you happy to see it. While you are playing the Original version you will earn pictures and you can print these pictures using your Game Boy Printer?.

SMBDX features version that lets you play the 1985 game to bring back childhood memories. The "Challenge" game is where you play a level and try to find the red coin, to achieve the high score, and to find the Yoshi Egg that is very hard to find in each level. The "Versus" game is very fun to play with a friend or family member or with a computer character. The "Records" keep your high scores recorded and your name placed there also. The "Album" is the place that you try to achieve all the pictures in the "Original" part and you can also get them by the other modes also. The "Toy Box" is the part where you have fun and try to get help and tactics to complete levels that you are having trouble with and to know what to do to defeat enemies. There are also many things you can print with your Game Boy Printer?.

The replay in Super Mario Brothers Deluxe is very high. You can play this game for months and months and still not get all the secrets. This game is very fun to play that even playing the same levels doesn't get repetitive at all. There is so much to do in this Game that you will never get bored with this Game. You might find yourself playing this Game constantly and trying to complete all the options to fully beat this magnificent game.

Bottom Line
You will be playing this masterpiece for a very long time and it will take you a long time to complete all the options to get full affect of this great classic. Thanks for your time and until next Nintendo Gamers see ya.
