First Impressions: Can John Connor save us before Arnold destroys California?!
УHOLY CRAP!Ф I can't really believe it because as I'm writing this, world famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is now Governor of the state of California! Arnold got the grand position after a big recall election that ousted former Governor Gray Davis from office. It was all over news and the story was even played out on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno! It's very weird when you think about it because it wasn't too long ago when old Arnold was starring in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the highly anticipated sequel to T2 Judgment Day which was a mega hit movie nearly a decade before. Since Terminator movies and video games go hand and hand, it is only a matter of time till we would see a T3 Rise of the Machines video game. Can Atari/Infogrames capitalize on all the huge publicity on both the movie and Arnold's recent political success or is this going to be a rushed project that gamers from all over are just going to ignore, even if they are from California?
The events in Terminator 3 take place 10 years after Terminator 2 and although Sarah, John Connor and a reprogrammed T-800 successfully destroyed Terminator prototypes from the Skynet Corporation, John Connor is still worried about his future so he is always on the run. John Connor's fears would soon be realized when a new female T-X Terminator from the future is sent on a mission to kill him and his friends so they will never get the chance to form a Skynet resistance. To counter the T-X Terminator, the resistance from the future would send a T-101 Terminator (Arnold of course) to the present to protect John. Even though the T-X is far more advanced than the T-101, you are still John's only hope for survival and if you fail then the human race is doomed to extinction.
T3 the game will be a first person shooter with some occasional fight scenes across 22 levels. As a bonus, as the game progresses you can see parts of the story along the way. There should be around 60 minutes of film or in game footage to see altogether so if you haven't seen the movie you can learn the story from the game here.
Some of you may remember an earlier Terminator game on the Xbox called Dawn of Fate? Terminator: DOF was an ok enough action game but it had no Arnold, the controls were awkward, and the game got very repetitive quickly. Unlike Terminator: Dawn of Fate game though, Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines the video game will almost have all of the recognizable characters from the hit movie so yes, the T-800 (or T-101, whatever they want to call him) Terminator robot will look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

T3 the game should be out very soon that really worries me. Just take a look what happened with Atari's Enter the Matrix. Atari was hyping their Matrix video game like you wouldn't believe but when it came time for it's actual release the game was loaded with bugs (especially on the Game Cube and Xbox copies) plus many fans were less then thrilled with the boring fight and driving scenes. Although this is a much different Atari from about 20 years ago but it doesn't take a genius to see that the quality is the first thing to go when a high profile game is rushed to the market too soon. Who could forget the millions of dollars loss when the old Atari rushed out versions of Pac Man and E.T.? If the developers keep the game simple so it's all arcade action then maybe it might be worth looking into but even if you're a diehard Terminator fan you may want to be just a little bit cautious with T3 the game here.
