First Impressions: The hardest working little android in gaming gets his due
It's hard to believe that the little blue bomber that Capcom lovingly dubbed "Mega Man" has been running around, shooting energy from his megabuster, absorbing the abilities of his enemies, and generally being an all-around pain in the neck to Dr. Wiley for fifteen years now. Few characters this side of Mario, Samus and Link have that kind of longevity. However, even with that incredible tenure, Mega Man's gaming stature is widely overlooked, as his games aren't quite as high profile as the aforementioned heroes. That is probably due to the fact that there is almost always a veritable deluge of Mega titles recently, as well as the fact that these Mega titles aren't as critically acclaimed or received as well as a Mario or a Metroid. However, it is nearly impossible to deny that Mega Man, in all of his various incarnations, is the hardest working video game character to ever grace a console.
Now, Capcom seeks to give the little android that could assimilate his long overdue recognition. They are releasing Mega Man Compilation on consoles, collecting all of the earliest Mega Man adventures, including the classic Mega Man 2 that made Mega fans out of many gamers. Gameboy Advance owners will also receive a treat, as they will get Mega Man Mania, which will be a collection of the first five Mega Man titles for the varied versions of the Gameboy. As an enhancement to the original Gameboy titles, players have the option to add actual color to the games, although the gaming purists may choose to ignore this ability.
Like the console versions, Mega Man Mania will also have extras in addition to the games. Players will be able to unlock a number of tributes to the Mega Man legacy, including artwork and a history of Mega Man games.
