7 Personalities of Killer 7: Only seven personalities? Harman Smith is an underachiever.

It isn't often that a videogame can completely capture the gaming world's attention before anyone has a chance to play it. Sure, sometimes a sequel is so full of hype that it hurts, but more often than not a brand new franchise has a hard time making a big splash before its launch. That is where Killer 7 stands apart from the crowd. From day one, Killer 7's unique visual style has set it apart from all other titles as it seems to borrow more from imported animation than it does from Halo, Mario, or Sonic.

So just what is Killer 7? It is the story of Harmon Smith; A wheelchair bound protagonist that, like the Transformers, is more than meets the eye. Throughout Killer 7 you will take control of Harmon's seven different personalities, each of which are deadly in their own right, as you combat Heaven Smiles, a maddened horde of insane characters.

Here's a closer look at each of the seven faces of Harmon Smith...

Dan Smith - Dan comes out packing a custom revolver in his fight against the Heaven Smiles. Dan is the Mario of the group... you know, well-rounded and all. Able to reload his trusty six-shooter in the blink of an eye, Dan will be able to hold his own against everything that the Heaven Smiles throw at him. Especially when he relies on his Collateral Shot, a super attack that feeds on the blood of the Heaven Smiles to vaporize targets.

Kaede Smith - As the only female in the group, Kaede will use her automatic pistol's scope to teach the guys how to get things done. The scope will afford Kaede the use of a two-step zoom to focus her attacks on the Heaven Smiles from afar. She will also dish out some killer kicks to dispatch the Heaven Smiles that get too close for comfort. She will also be able to access areas that invisible barriers keep the other personalities out of by raining a shower of blood out of her wrist. A unique power, to be sure, but one that is certain to get her into trouble.

Garcian Smith - Garcian is the leader of Harmon's personalities, both teaching the team how to hunt down Heaven Smiles that are using optical camouflage and bringing them back to life after they bite the dust.

Coyote Smith - Coyote Smith is a street-smart thug that turns his thieving ways into a valuable asset. Able to pick locks, Coyote will help the Killer 7 gain access to even the most restricted areas by deftly working his magic. Of course, locks aren't the only things that will block your way and Coyote's athletic ability will help you find alternate paths to your goal. Oh, yeah. He shoots Heaven Smiles, too.

Con Smith - Con is surprisingly effective with a pair of pistols for a blind kid. His hyper-acute hearing will give him a DareDevil-like radar sense that will let him to pump his rapid-fire attacks right into the heart of the Heaven Smiles. And for those moments when you choose to not have him pull the trigger? Con will also be able to draw upon super-human speed to outrun his enemies.

Kevin Smith - Though he shares a name with the beloved director, Kevin Smith is no Silent-Bob. However, what this albino will be able to do is turn invisible by taking off his shades so that he can better kill Heaven Smiles with his knives. You will also be able to use Kevin's invisibility to bypass security sensors without setting them off.

Mask de Smith - The baddest of the bad, Mask is a former professional wrestler turned grenade launcher toting enigma. Mysteriously disappearing before the main event in New York, Mask will give you access to three different types of grenades: normal, electric, and gravity. Needless to say, Mask's double grenade launchers are designed to wreak havoc on the Heaven Smiles.

Final Thoughts
While Killer 7 got everyone's attention with its unique visual style, it is promising to keep it with an even more unique gameplay mechanic. Allowing you to switch between seven distinct characters on the fly, Killer 7 seems poised to feed every type of gaming craving from knife throwing to sniping. Hopefully the final product has more of the Viewtiful Joe success than the P.N. 03 distress in it when it finally hits shelves in June.
