News: Acclaim announced the release of Worms 3D for PS2 and GameCube.

Acclaim announced that it has released the PS2 and GameCube versions of Worms 3D, which expands upon the successful turn-based action strategy franchise that has sold over eight million units worldwide. The Xbox edition of the game isn't due out until later in the month, but includes head-to-head online play over Xbox Live.

"Team17 and its Worms franchise has developed a devoted fan base over the years by combining in-depth strategy with over-the-top weaponry and humor," said David Skelton, Brand Manager for Acclaim. "We believe that loyal Worms fans will be delighted with the transition from 2D to 3D, while new fans will immediately fall in love with its addictively fun gameplay."

Worms 3D enhances the classic Worms gameplay, including favorite series' weapons such as ninja ropes, jetpacks and super sheep, as well as hilarious new weapons that were designed to take advantage of the new liberating 3D landscape. Worms 3D also includes fully destructible environments, more than 100 unlockable hidden features and a wide variety of single and multiplayer modes.
