News: Missed an episode of Survivor or dying to see The Matrix in HD? Now's your chance.
Microsoft has always said that something big would happen when we neared the 360's first birthday. It looks like MS has decided we've waited long enough and announced that starting November 22, the Live Marketplace will include downloadable TV shows and movies.
Available in both standard definition and HD, the initial slate of video content will come from Adult Swim, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons Network, Paramount, Spike TV, NASCAR, UFC, VH1 and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
"This groundbreaking announcement is a win for everyone," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. "It connects our partners with one of the most coveted audiences in entertainment today, and provides even greater value to our Xbox Live community, allowing them to enjoy the games and entertainment they want, when they want it."
Prices for this new service haven't been announced yet, however, Microsoft has said that 360 owners will be able to keep any TV shows they download and movies will be "rented" for a specific amount of time. Instead, 24 hours after the movie is first watched, it will disappear from your hard drive.
Here's what we'll get to download before the end of the year:
Adult Swim: Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force
CBS: CSI, Survivor, and remastered episodes of classic Star Trek
Comedy Central: South Park and Chappelle's Show
MTV: The Real World and Pimp My Ride
