News: Amazon.com indicates a summer release.

The Rumor
Grand Theft Auto IV's delay from October 2007 to early 2008 was a devastating blow, but Amazon.com's listing for the Xbox 360 version may indicate an even longer wait. An N4G post points out that the online retail store's ship date for that anticipated title is now June 30, 2008.

Gaming Target's On-the-Level Analysis
Take this rumor with a grain of salt because the PS3 game is still listed with the original October 16, 2007 release date. Not only is Amazon.com behind in updating the PS3 date, but it may be taking Q2 2008 to mean the last day in the second quarter just in case. That would, of course, be Monday, June 30, 2008. Further reassurance comes from EBGames.com, which pins the release date for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to a more likely date in March.

We may like to read about the most popular sales on Amazon.com, and we can trust their math in those cases. But you can't count on the site if they have one GTA IV earlier than expected in 2007 and the other later than you'll get it in the summer.

On-the-Level Conclusion
The only GTA IV delay the Amazon.com webmaster should be responsible for is the PS3 version's outdated ship date.
