News: New system SKU includes five games.
With five arcade games and a cheaper price tag, Xbox 360 Arcade debuts today as part of Microsoft's plan to appeal to families and frugal gamers. The new $279.99 SKU includes PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy.
Besides a disc of these full games, the cheaper system comes with a wireless controller, an HDMI port and 256 MB of memory. An HDMI cable isn't part of this value package, but having the interface alone is at least a step ahead of the original Core system. Budget-conscious families may not know the difference right now, but at least the included port future-proofs their next-gen console purchase when they get around to buying an HDTV.
Expect to see Microsoft experience an uptick in sales with its appropriately timed holiday season price slash.
