Specials: 33% more likely to unearth those old UMDs.
A limited-edition Daxter entertainment pack containing an Ice Silver PSP-2000 arrived at Gaming Target, so we opened it up with camera in hand for your viewing pleasure / envy.
Let's Explore.
Inside the bundle is a much-lighter, slightly-slimmer and somewhat-glossier silver PSP. The system's battery pack also lost a little weight while the included Memory Stick Duo gained extra capacity; it's now 1GB instead of 32MB. Rounding out the hardware, there's a two-part power supply that shares in the compact characteristics of this newly designed system.
Obviously, the bundle includes the hit game Daxter and two game manuals. They're both the same, really; one's in English and the other's in French (think Quebec, not France) for North American distribution purposes.
The entertainment pack expands beyond game software with
Family Guy: The Freakin' Sweet Collection. This five-episode UMD comes in a cardboard sleeve (like the Spider-Man 2 UMD if you got PSP at launch) instead of a plastic PSP case like the one curiously pictured on the bundle's box. Regardless of that inconsistency, the hand-picked favorite's of show creator Seth Mcfarlane are worth watching again, even if they're from the earlier, pre-cancelled seasons.
The best part about watching the Family Guy episodes yet again or playing Daxter for the second time is that it can be done on a big-screen television. The new system features a display-out port right next to the headphone jack on the bottom, but you'll need to buy the component or composite cables separately if you want to use this option. It's definitely a step up if you enjoy watching UMD movies at home.
We'll have more on the original PSP vs. PSP-2000 tomorrow.
